What is Sterling Silver?
All our products are Sterling Silver with Rhodium plating for anti-tarnish and durability.
Sterling Silver, consists of 92.5% silver, and the remaining part consists of an alloy, mostly copper. This is the reason why Sterling Silver is popularly referred to as 925 Sterling Silver or just 925 Silver.
The reason silver needs to be combined with other metals is that it is very difficult to make great designs with just pure silver, which is very soft and malleable. A bit of hardness has to be introduced, by adding other metals such as copper.
Rhodium plating is a process used to coat materials with a protective layer of rhodium. When applied as a thin plate, it affords a durable finish of exceptional brightness. Rhodium finishes can greatly enhance the appearance and longevity of any metal to which they are applied. With Sterling silver jewellery Rhodium plating is a means of creating a highly durable, tarnish resistant surface.
